Coil in GTA 6 is one of the more interesting brand questions on the roster, because Coil is the only manufacturer in the series whose entire identity depends on a technology that did not exist when GTA started, and whose real-world counterpart has changed character substantially since the brand debuted.

Standard caveat first, and it applies to every brand piece on this site: Rockstar has confirmed no manufacturer and no individual model for GTA 6. What is confirmed is 200+ vehicles spanning cars, motorcycles, helicopters, planes and boats, all with fully interactive interiors. Everything about which badges appear is inference from series history.

What Coil is

Coil is Grand Theft Auto's Tesla slot. It debuted in GTA 5 in 2013 with the Voltic, an open-top electric sports car shaped like the original Tesla Roadster, and unlike most GTA manufacturers it arrived with a thesis rather than a heritage: silent, instant torque, limited range, expensive, slightly smug.

That makes it structurally unusual on a roster where almost every other brand is defined by decades of pastiche. Grotti is Ferrari theatre, Pegassi is Lamborghini aggression, Pfister is Porsche precision, Vapid is Ford's volume. Coil is a propulsion method.

Six models over roughly a decade, which is a thin roster by GTA standards. For comparison, the brands covered in our car brands overview routinely run to a dozen or more entries. Coil has been a niche, not a pillar.

The Brawler is worth flagging as the inconsistency. It is a Baja-style off-roader carrying a Coil badge, which does not fit the electric-brand reading at all, and is the sort of loose end Rockstar has never bothered to tidy.

The problem Coil has in Leonida

Here is why Coil is an interesting test case rather than a safe assumption.

Leonida is a Florida analog. The confirmed regions, from the Leonida Keys to the Grassrivers to Mount Kalaga National Park, are predominantly rural, coastal and sparsely built. The culture GTA 6 is drawing on is one of boats, trucks, muscle cars and long distances. Our electric vehicles piece covers the broader question of how EVs fit that world.

An electric brand in that setting has to answer something the Los Santos version never did. In GTA 5, Coil was a status object in a dense, wealthy, hill-climbing city where a silent sports car read as a Hollywood accessory. In a state of swamp roads, causeways and small coastal towns, the same car reads differently: either as an out-of-place transplant from the city, which is a satirical angle Rockstar is well equipped to take, or as a brand with nothing much to say.

The satirical reading is the more likely one. The real-world EV conversation has shifted hard since 2013, from novelty to politics, and GTA's satire tends to follow exactly that kind of shift. Our piece on Rockstar's larger-than-life satire covers the pattern. A Coil in 2026 Leonida is a loaded object in a way a Coil in 2013 Los Santos was not.

That is analysis, not information. Rockstar has said nothing about electric vehicles, charging, range, brand satire or Coil.

What is genuinely unknown

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Coil in GTA 6?

Unconfirmed. Rockstar has confirmed 200+ vehicles but has named no manufacturer or model. Coil has appeared in GTA 5 and GTA Online.

Are there electric cars in GTA 6?

Unannounced. No electric vehicle, charging system or range mechanic has been confirmed.

What is the fastest Coil car?

In GTA Online, the Cyclone and Cyclone II are the brand's hypercar entries. GTA 6 performance figures do not exist publicly for any vehicle.

Is Coil based on Tesla?

Coil fills the Tesla slot on GTA's manufacturer roster, with the Voltic shaped like the original Tesla Roadster and the Raiden resembling a Model S. GTA brands are parodies rather than licensed equivalents.

The Bottom Line

Coil is the one GTA brand that cannot simply be carried forward, because its meaning changed in the real world while the series was between games. A six-model roster built on "silent and expensive" has a clear role in a dense city and a much less obvious one in a state of swamps, keys and pickup trucks. If Rockstar brings Coil to Leonida, expect the badge to carry a joke it did not carry in 2013. If it does not, the brand will be the rare GTA manufacturer that aged out of its own premise.
