The best part of Rockstar's October 8 update was not the station names. It was that you can actually hear them. Rockstar published playable GTA 6 radio station previews for all six revealed stations on its official music page, and a surprising number of people have read the coverage without realising the audio is sitting right there. Here is how to find it and, more importantly, how to read what you are hearing.

Where the previews live

The previews are on the official Grand Theft Auto VI site at rockstargames.com, on the game's music page. Look for the "Preview Station" control attached to each of the six stations. There is one per station, and they play in the browser.

A few practical notes:

If you want the full list of official places Rockstar actually announces things, we keep a maintained version in our official channels and notifications guide.

What the previews actually prove, and what they do not

This is the part worth getting right, because the previews are being treated as a tracklist and they are not one.

What a preview proves: that the station exists, what genre Rockstar assigns it, who hosts it, and that the specific snippet you heard is in the game's audio.

What a preview does not prove: anything about the rest of the station. No tracklist has been published. Artists reported as audible in the previews, including Bad Bunny, David Allan Coe, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Slayer, Charli xcx, MGMT, and DJ Khaled, are evidence for those snippets only. A 60-second clip from a station that may carry dozens of songs tells you almost nothing about the full playlist.

It also does not prove the dial is complete. Six is not the full lineup. Rockstar's own copy describes stations "spanning stations dedicated to everything from Classic Rock to Talk Radio," and no Classic Rock or Talk Radio station has been named. The total station count is unannounced. GTA 5 launched with 16 stations plus self radio.

Three things to listen for

If you are going to spend 10 minutes on this, listen for these rather than trying to Shazam every track.

1. The two-host format. Every revealed station has at least two hosts, which breaks a series pattern that ran from Toni on 1986 Flash FM through Iggy Pop on Liberty Rock Radio to Kenny Loggins in GTA 5. Listen to how the pairs actually interact in the breaks. Back Country Radio goes further with a third voice, a roving correspondent, which we broke down in MW, Delta Dawne and Mud Dog Mike.

2. Station identity, not just music. Idents, jingles, ad reads, and the way each station addresses its audience are where GTA's satire usually lives. These previews are the first chance to hear that register for this game.

3. Flash FM specifically. It is the one returning Vice City station, last heard in 1986 Vice City and Vice City Stories. Compare the tone to what you remember. Also note Robyn appeared as an artist on GTA 5's Non-Stop-Pop FM and now hosts. Full context in Flash FM returns.

What is still missing

Worth being blunt about the gaps, because the reveal was big enough that people assume it answered more than it did:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pre-order or sign in to hear the previews?

No. They are on the public official site and play in a browser.

Is the preview audio the full station?

No. Each is a short snippet. No tracklist has been published and the previews are not representative of a full playlist.

Can I hear podcasts in the previews?

No. On-demand podcasts are confirmed to exist as a series first, but no podcast audio, title, or host has been released.

Will there be more stations revealed before launch?

Rockstar has not said, but its own copy references unnamed Classic Rock and Talk Radio stations, so at least two genres are still unrevealed with 40 days to go.

The Bottom Line

Go listen to them on rockstargames.com rather than reading about them, because the host delivery and station identity are the actual content here and no write-up captures that. Just keep the frame right: six stations out of an unannounced total, playable snippets rather than a tracklist, and a confirmed podcast system with zero details attached. It is the largest soundtrack drop this game has had, and it is still a fraction of the dial.
